The 28th Annual
Global Finance  Conference

[Virtual]

27-29 May, 2021  |  Virtual
Remote Synchronous (live streaming)
and Asynchronous (pre-recorded) Delivery

After extensive deliberation, the Executive Board of the Global Finance Association reached a decision to hold the 28th Annual Global Finance Conference remotely.  This decision was painful, but it was made due to the uncertainty of the Covid-19 pandemic, international travel restrictions, potential budgetary constraints in the aftermath of the pandemic, and safety of the participants.  GFC draws a significant number of researchers, academicians, and policy makers from all over the world.  International travel restrictions, in particular, outweighed the lingering uncertainty of vaccine availability and other factors.

Professor H. Kent Baker of American University and Professor Lemma Senbet of the University of Maryland are the Keynote Speakers. The title of his speech would be "The Dividend Puzzle Revisited.”

The theme of the conference is “A Time Like No Other”.  While papers in a wide range of disciplines are welcome, special focus is on our current trying times that have ushered us into significant changes.

Though GFC-2021 is to be held remotely, it will be conducted in the same spirit as it was undertaken in its past 26 face-to-face meetings.  The only exception is the delivery mode of the presentations that are expected to take place virtually either synchronously or asynchronously.  The synchronous (live streaming) delivery mode is optional for all participants.  The asynchronous (prerecorded) mode is intended to overcome IT constraints, if any, and account for time-zone differences globally.  The formal hours of the sessions adhere to the USA Pacific-Time zone.  These will be further elaborated on in the presentation guidelines as we approach the conference dates. To avoid any mishaps, all authors are expected to submit prerecorded video(s) that will be available during the conference dates and thereafter.

The hub of the conference is in its birthplace, Fresno, USA. Professor M. Shahrokhi of California State University, Fresno, and Professor A. M. Parhizgari of Florida International University, Miami, FL, shall serve as the Program Co-Chairs.
